The industrial partner GUERBET
will contribute to the evaluation of the safety of the NPs (in vitro and in
vivo) and will also investigate their stability in water and plasma. It will
contribute to the investigations regarding the uptake of NPs by tumor cells and
will evaluate the NP (alone or functionalized with biological probes [“pharmacophores”]
expected to specifically target molecules over expressed in pathological
situations) by means of magnetic resonance imaging in order to demonstrate the
proof of concept. A 2.35 T experimental magnet is available in Guerbet research
laboratories, thus allowing to carry out such capital studies. The staff
involved in the research activities is formed by two senior scientists, a
researcher, a technician and a student. The group leader is J.M. Ideč.
In addition, preliminary in vitro
and in vivo toxicity studies will be needed to get an initial idea of the
tolerance of the relevant prototypes.
