The SME NANOVECTOR (NANOVEC)
has specific skill in the research and development of colloidal carriers, and
has specific expertise and know-how on Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) and
microemulsions (mE): using its technology platform it is possible to carry both
Hydrophilic and Hydrophobic drugs. Actually the staff consists in 8 graduates.
The company is equipped with all the apparatus required to develop on bench
scale the SLN and micro-emulsion preparations, to characterise them for size,
poly-dispersity index, zeta potential, and for chemical analyses. NANOVEC has
actually several patents relative to Solid Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) obtained
from warm oil in water (O/W) and water in oil in water (W/O/W) micro-emulsions.
NANOVEC has also a great expertise in the field of oil in water and water in oil
micro-emulsions prepared at room temperature. NANOVEC core business is to apply
and commercialise SLN technology as drug delivery systems in pharmaceutical
fields. The company has budgeted an enlargement of its working group for 2006. A
clean room for sterile production will be operating before the end of 2005. SLN
and mE have been tested during last 15 years with more than 60 scientific
papers.
The Company has several patents on production methods and applications of Solid
Lipid Nanoparticles (SLNs) that are produced with proprietary method, based on
warm micro-emulsion platform technology.
For BONSAI project the working team will be constituted by 2 senior researchers
and 2 junior researchers. The group leader is Dr. M. R. Gasco, with great
expertise in the field of SLNs preparation and development.
